Here's an illustration based on World War Z that I did for my last Conceptual Illustration project for university. I handed it in a while ago but have been chipping away at it slowly to get it to where I wanted. I added colour, more details and changed a few bits around.
There are some mistakes here and there, but overall I'm happy with this one
I've spent many hours on it (10? 12? more than that? I dunno) but I think it's paid off in the end.
I actually listened to the WWZ audio book on youtube as I painted it (the night before it was due haha). It's a really awesome piece of zombie fiction and the audiobook is done really well by a variety of actors. Check it out: [link]
I used a LOT of photo references for this one and tried to get the zombies looking realistic and not too cartoony. I used a picture of my car as reference for the one in the foreground and a photograph that I took in the US for the sky. Heres the list of online references I used (the first one contains nudity):
