For my latest illustration project at uni, two final rough designs for the Ned Kelly brief, where we had to showcase Ned Kelly with his cottage and the 'outback feel'.
These were done on scratch paper which is inked paper that you scratch away with a scalpel to create white highlights, perfect for cross hatching!

Heath Ledger (R.I.P.) portrayed Ned Kelly in the 2003 film 'Ned Kelly'. I used his pose as a reference for the right design.

This is like crosshatching in reverse. I think this would work well on black latex/leather wearing characters like cat woman. Also really liked the helm reference
