Updated my submission with this, the final version of my entry to the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls contest; my favourite class in the games - The Barbarian. I wanted to portray the feeling of just how bad-ass and monstrous you feel playing the game with the Barb - dominating all the demons of hell with a nice hack and slash to the face. Hope you like it!

I spent countless hours in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction back in the day. It was the first game I really played to death, trying to make the ultimate bad-ass demon killing character, I even had a file full of the Rune word combinations and recipes to try and craft the best gear! On the whole, really liked Diablo III as well, sure the story was rubbish and it lost a bit of it's dark gothic horror feel of the second - I still think it's one of my favourite game franchises of all time. The art style of the series and character/creature design work really inspired me to get into it myself so I'm really psyched to see what the Reaper of Souls expansion has to offer!

Pencil sketch scanned and painted/drawn in Photoshop - did most of the work on the Barbarian with a single small square hard brush - then added atmosphere details with some custom Photoshop brushes.

Hello again!

Another wonderful piece you've created here, now here are a few suggestions from me, which I think will help you improve this already amazing drawing, and get a more Diablo II feel.

First of all, the tiny chain links upon the axe looks as if they were done by a brush, and aren't very masculine / barbarian like. I would love to see the links hand-drawn with larger, more chunky rusty iron links.

Secondly, repair and smoothen places such as the spikes on his right hand, which appears a lot more distorted and sketchy than places such as his helmet, which is by far more detailed. - Make sure every spot is detailed.

Thirdly, it'd be great if you'd try to exaggerate some outlines, such as the awesome axe, which seems to sort of ghost off into the fog in the left of the picture.

Aaaand last, it'd be epic if you'd draw him standing behind a heap of mutilated demon corpses, and include some strong legs on the character, as well as showing us more of that dark foreboding forest in the background. - Perhaps posing the character, with his sabaton atop the skull of a monster would be radical.
